A few years ago, after I had had my third child Phoenix (now age 3), I had just finished teaching at Prana Power Yoga Newton and a woman and her daughter were coming in to the studio to take the next class.  They were first-time students at Prana.

She and I got to talking, and she was asking me all about the practice, our studio, my teaching, and life in general.

Somehow the topic of children came up (I probably began talking to her daughter and asking her questions), and her Supermom said, to me, and I quote, “You have children?  With a body like that?  We hate people like you.”

This was, of course, said in jest; however, as you’ll learn as you practice “deliberate creation,” The Universe doesn’t understand humor or jest and doesn’t see negatives (i.e. “I don’t want to be sick doesn’t translate into “I want to be healthy.”  The Universe doesn’t see “don’t,” and so it hears “I want to be sick.”)

What you say and you think and you feel create your reality, and The Universe delivers as ordered, Super-people.

Straight out.

If you ask for a size 8 shoe, that’s what you get.

The Universe doesn’t say “Oh, well she’d really fit better into a 9 in this type of shoe, so I’ll deliver that to her.”

Nope, you’ll get exactly what you ordered.

So although this woman was being humorous and actually trying to give me some sort of compliment (or so I hope—LOL), what The Universe hears and delivers from her statement is a low vibration of negativity, comparison, competition, and oh, Sister, that four letter word—hate.

And this is not boding well for that Supermom’s tomorrow.

But she was completely unaware, poor love.

She meant no harm.

She was just being “funny,” and trying to compliment me.

So the first step, in creating the best life ever and living with Grace moment-to-moment on your journey, is awareness.

So many people I talk to, teach, work with, and encounter are simply unaware.

Unaware of their personal power.

Unaware of their ability to create anything that they desire.

Unaware of how negatively they think and speak and therefore, feel, a large percentage of the time.

Unaware that one yoga practice is the beginning of an awareness that will unlock their pure potential.

So I smiled as I left the studio that day, knowing that that Supermom was about to start a journey of awareness, simply by stepping on to her mat.

And with that awareness would come the understanding of her personal power in creating her life.

And a taking of responsibility for that power and for the results—her day to day experiences.

I knew with confidence that she was on this path, and so I didn’t need to breathe a word to her.

It would all come to her with time, with practice, and with grace.
